A small number of nationalities have visa-free or simplified entry arrangements, but even then you typically must regularise your status for study after arrival. The invitation letter — your first step

You cannot apply for the student visa entirely on your own from scratch. First, your university issues an official invitation letter (visa support), usually registered with the migration authorities in Kazakhstan. This registered invitation is what the embassy needs to issue your visa.

So the sequence is: admission → accept offer → university issues invitation → you apply at the embassy. Keep your passport details accurate and respond quickly to document requests.

Students on a valid full-time student visa may take on work subject to the current rules and any required permits — confirm what's allowed for your visa category before you rely on it.

Kazakhstan does not currently operate a dedicated “post-study work visa” of the kind offered by the UK, Canada or Australia. To work after graduating, you generally need a Kazakhstani employer to sponsor a work permit, after which you move to an employment-based visa.
