In short: most students should plan for roughly $2,000–$5,000 per year in tuition and $300–$600 per month in living costs. The sections below explain what drives those figures up or down.
Tuition depends on three things: the university, the level of study, and the subject. Medicine and some engineering fields sit at the top of the range; humanities, social sciences and education tend to be the most affordable.

Living costs are low, especially outside the two biggest cities. A typical student needs about $300–$600 per month all-in, driven mostly by the accommodation choice. The single biggest lever is housing: a university dormitory is dramatically cheaper than a private flat, and is the default for most international students in their first year.
